ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (ADD or ADHD):
Quick items to consider prior to visiting a family doctor, a
pediatrician or a neurologist:
For attention deficit disorder (ADD) at least 6 of the
following:
- Fails to give close attention to details and makes careless
mistakes
- Has difficulty sustaining attention
- Does not seem to listen
- Does not seem to follow through
- Has difficulty organizing tasks
- Avoids tasks that require sustained attention
- Loses things necessary for activities
- Is easily distracted
- Is forgetful.
For attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) add at
least 6
of the following:
- Fidgets
- Leaves seat
- Runs about or climbs excessively
- Has difficulty with quite leisure cavities
- Is on the go
- Talks excessively
- Blurts out answers
- Has difficulty waiting turn
- Interrupts or intrudes
Keep in mind that many other conditions can mimic some of the
symptoms listed above. Examples: Learning disorders, Tic
disorders, Bipolar disorder, Depression, Anxiety, OCD, Post-traumatic stress
disorder, Conduct disorder, Oppositional defiant disorder. The
symptoms described above must interpreted in the light of the patient
environmental factors.
